Brixham town council creates new Task and Finish Group to oversee neighborhood plan

Brixham Town Council has voted to create a Task and Finish Group to oversee aspects of the Brixham Peninsula Neighbourhood Plan and is inviting members of the public to join in the work to protect our green spaces and develop new ideas for the future.

The group will make recommendations to BTC’s Planning and Regeneration Committee on planning applications across our community, including the villages of Churston, Galmpton and Broadsands, consider how the plan can be updated, and investigate ideas within the plan for projects that will enhance our communities.

Speaking after the recent Full Council meeting, Planning and Regeneration Chairperson, Councillor David Blackmore thanked the now disbanded Neighbourhood Forum for the exceptional work that they have done over many years, developing and steering the Neighbourhood Plan to its adoption following a referendum in May 2019.

“Brixham Town Council wants to ensure that the villages within it remain properly represented in its deliberations about all aspects of the Neighbourhood Plan, and have concluded that the Task and Finish Group, as well as being in line with the policy of the Council, is the best framework in which this can be achieved”, said Councillor Blackmore.

“The Council intends to build on its long standing good relationship with the residents of the villages, and get to work refreshing the plan”, he added..

“We are inviting members of the public in Brixham, Churston, Galmpton and Broadsands to contact the Council if they wish to volunteer to represent their communities on the Task and Finish Group, either by telephoning 859678, or writing to info@brixhamtowncouncil.gov.uk”.
