Brixham Town Hall Regeneration Public Consultation Event: Have Your Say

Brixham Town Council is holding an open public event to showcase its exciting regeneration plans for the town hall on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th March from 10 am until 1 pm at Scala Hall.

The event will give residents an opportunity to find out more about the regeneration project, which aims to create a multi-functional community space that is open to everyone.

These dates replace the date of 13th February (announced in the January edition of Brixham Town Council’s Brixham Signal), as organisers decided that more time was needed to organise an engaging, informative event.

Tracy Hallet, Town Clerk, Brixham Town Council, said: “Brixham Town Council is keen to ensure that as many residents as possible take part in this consultation event. The Town Hall is a historic part of Brixham’s heritage, but it has been underutilised lately, with many people walking past not knowing what lies behind the doors. We want to regenerate the Town Hall to ensure that future generations enjoy this building and the facilities it has on offer.”

Brixham Town Council is encouraging as many residents as possible take part in this consultation to ensure everyone has a say on what they want from the Town Hall. As well as attending the event, people can have their say via an online survey: www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/BrixhamTownHall.

In addition to the plans for the Town Hall itself, Brixham Town Council has secured a £33,000 grant from Homes England in order to carry out a feasibility study into the possible supply of affordable accommodation in the Old Police House area at the rear of the building. A community survey designed to assess the need for those new properties is also available at www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/PKSVGRK.

Links to both of the surveys are available on the Town Council website and hard copies are available from its offices.

The consultation is being supported by independent charity Devon Communities Together, whose team is out and about in Brixham to engage with the public.
