Abbey Christmas which was due to be held next month in Torquay has been cancelled.
Hive Events made the announcement on social media this morning, Tuesday 24th November.
The Event, which was being held at Torre Abbey in Torquay, will now take place in 2021.
Hive Events who had planned the Christmas event, which included Santa’s Grotto and ice skating, have said that refunds for tickets will commence this week, for more information, click here.
A spokesperson said: “Here at Hive Events, we have worked extremely hard to ensure that we bring you a COVID safe event at a time of unrest and uncertainty. To bring us to this day now, we have built strong relations with Torbay Council and local bodies who have been fully supportive of our event.
“It has been an incredible journey for us, as we have proudly created and adapted an event which we feel is truly magical, one which Torbay has not seen in a very long time.
“We carefully considered the adaptions needed to make the event COVID safe and how to make it an enjoyable experience for all attending. In doing this, we have asked ourselves many questions, such as: If Torbay is put in a tiered restriction system, will we still be able to open an event that doesn’t cause disappointment to the public? Or, will we come out of lockdown and how long for?
“Unfortunately, due to the current uncertainty following yesterdays announcement regarding the imposed tier system, it is with heavy hearts we have made the decision to CANCEL ABBEY CHRISTMAS until next year. We are deeply disappointed, as we are sure you are too! We would like to thank you for all of your support, it means a lot to us.”
