Car crashes into ivybridge takeaway

Emergency services were called to Ivybridge earlier this afternoon when a car crashed into a takeaway.

The car left the road and went into the shop front of ‘The Taste of Bengal’ takeaway on Costly Street.

The driver was helped from the car by 4 men and treated by ambulance crews. The driver was taken to hospital.

Police are investigating.

A spokesperson for Ivybridge Police posted on social media:

“A very prompt and efficient response from all 3 emergency sevices, working together to make the scene safe.

“A huge THANK YOU to the 4 males who rushed into the takeaway and removed the driver, putting their own lives at risk. Each has been spoken to and thanked for their heroic efforts.”
