Devon and Somerset Fire and rescue service said on their website: “On arrival, crews confirmed this was a car, well alight, which had spread to trees and bushes outside the property.

“The fire was extinguished using 2 breathing apparatus wearers, 1 hose reel jet, 1 safety jet, small tools and a thermal imaging camera. Environmental packs were used to stop a running fuel fire from entering nearby drains.

“The Police also attended the incident due to the suspicious nature of the fire.

“The vehicle was 100% destroyed and the cause is believed to be deliberate,”

The car, mini cooper belonged to the husband of a local charity boss.

In a video on Facebook CEO of Humanity Torbay Ellie Waugh said the ‘petrol bomb’ attack was targetted.
