To highlight the benefits of working for a local hospice charity, Rowcroft is to hold two open days as part of a recruitment drive.

Taking place at their main site at Avenue Road, Torquay, on Wednesday 21 September between 1pm and 6.30 pm and Friday 30 September between 8.30am and 1.30pm, the events are open to anyone who is interested about finding out more about a career with Rowcroft, whether that’s working with the hospice’s patients and families or within one of the charity’s numerous commercial and support roles.

Claire Booth, Head of People and Organisational Development at Rowcroft Hospice said: “Our open day events are a great opportunity to see for yourself what it’s like to be part of our professional teams at Rowcroft. There will be plenty of colleagues on hand to chat informally about the types of roles we offer, the career routes and opportunities available, and what it’s really like to work here. We are also keen to meet with anyone who is thinking about returning to nursing practice. There’s no need to book; just drop in to Rainbow House any time between on Wednesday 21 September between 1pm and 6.30 pm, or on Friday 30 September between 8.30am and 1.30pm, and discover why Rowcroft is such a great place to work. There is plenty of free parking on site in our beautiful grounds (one of the many perks of working here), and it’s absolutely fine to bring your children along with you if you need.”

Rowcroft employs around 230 people in diverse teams across the organisation – all with one common goal: to make every day the best day possible for people living with life-limiting illnesses across South Devon. Hundreds of volunteers also provide vital support in many varied roles.

Rowcroft aims to attract new talent to the hospice to ensure that the charity can continue to provide the excellent care and service it is known for, and so that the organisation can achieve its future goals of enhancing and expanding its care to support more people in the local community.

Kieron George is a Healthcare Assistant in the Inpatient Unit: “There’s always this misconception that working in a hospice is a sad place to work, but actually it’s the complete opposite. It’s such a comfortable and welcoming environment for patients and staff, and everybody is so supportive. This really helps us to be able to provide the very best care to the best of our ability.”

Fiona Ward, Rowcroft’s Volunteering Manager, said: “What’s really clear at Rowcroft is the breadth of professional backgrounds and the diversity of experience and skills sets, which I think is quite extraordinary.”

Simon Roger Key is Rowcroft’s Digital Marketing Manager. He said: “If you want to work somewhere where you’re valued, supported, given the autonomy to do the role that you have expertise in, and the opportunity to have the development you want, then Rowcroft is a really good employer”.
