The fire service were called to reports of a fire at the Chadwell Centre (NHS: Community mental health team) in Preston, Paignton in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 20 March.
Fire crews from Torquay and Paignton attended the incident at around 2.35am.
Torbay Road was closed between Tarraway Road and Wheatridge Lane whilst emergency services dealt with the incident.
Police remain at the scene. The area is cordoned off to vehicles and the public. The centre is currently closed.
The fire service have stated that 25% of the building was damaged by fire and smoke and 50% was damaged by smoke only.
The cause is yet to be determined.
