For the third year running, local charity ESSW Charitable Trust, has been allocated 3 spaces in the world’s greatest festival of cycling, Ride London 100 event which takes place next year on 26 May 2024. The race is now on to find cyclists to jump into the saddle and take on the challenge.

‘We’ve attracted cyclists from across England for the last 2 years, and they’ve worked so hard for us! We are so hopeful keen Devon cyclists will take the spaces for us this year’ said Ian Coulton, Chair of Trustees

‘Our charity pay for the spaces and we ask riders to raise as much money as possible for our charity as well as enjoying this fabulous cycle event’

In 2022, Rebecca Widdowson, Managing Partner at Hallmark Whatley Hulme in Worcester rode the 100 miles for the charity, raising over £2,000. Rebecca relished the opportunity as it was an event on her bucket list and a way to support children in Ukraine.

In 2023, Tim Rowbottom, Managing Director, Collier and Catchpole (Colchester) and Paul Alford, Company Secretary at Walkers Builders Merchant (Orpington) rode for the charity and raised £1600; both saying that Ride London was the perfect challenge for them and for them to make a difference to children’s lives at the same time.

2024 is the 11th anniversary of the hugely popular event, an Olympic legacy event from the 2012 London Games and the ESSW team are hoping riders from Devon will put their best pedals forward and tackle the route on their behalf.

Chair of trustees, Ian Coulton added ‘It is such a wonderful event and spectacle for keen cyclists and a memory to last forever. We have 3 spaces available so if there are any keen cyclists who are keen to participate and raise funds for our charity, it would be great to hear from you.’ If you would like a free space, please contact Ian Coulton on info@esswcharitabletrust.org

ESSW Charitable Trust raises money for children caught up in humanitarian crises or under threat of starvation throughout the world. The aim is to raise money to provide food, medical care, clean water and to help provide education for children ensuring the next generation has the tools to fight poverty and conquer disease.

All profits raised by ESSW Charitable Trust will be directed towards good causes including the Save the Children famine crisis in Somalia and those which focus on humanitarian crises such as Water Aid and UNICEF.
