Following the Prime Minister’s call for all pubs, clubs and restaurants to close, and in the light of additional guidance that people should be staying in their primary home wherever possible – observing social distancing – Cofton Holidays, located near Dawlish, has taken the decision to close its doors to members of the public and any non-essential staff for the foreseeable future.
All future guests have been informed of the holiday park’s closure. Guests with holidays already booked are being given the opportunity to rebook at a later date of their choice, when the restrictions have been lifted. Guests booked for arrivals in March and April are being given the option of a full refund or the ability to book at a later date.
Helen Scott, Director of the multi-award-winning Cofton Holidays, commented: “Our first thought is for our guests and for our staff. Our decision to close the holiday park until further notice has been taken to protect the health and wellbeing of customers and those with whom we work. As a family business that has been providing holidays for over 40 years, it’s a very sad day for us, but safety comes first in the battle against Covid-19. We all have a part to play in turning the tide against this virulent virus.”
Helen Scott added: “We are determined to remain robust during the difficult times ahead, so that when Government restrictions relax, we will be here for the public to return to for a well-deserved break. We plan to support all our staff during the shut-down, and those that would otherwise have been made redundant will be supported under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, as outlined by the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak.
“With wild woodland on our doorstep, the moors of Dartmoor and many miles of beaches nearby, we hope to welcome back familiar faces and friends when the time is right. Together we will ensure that the UK’s tourism industry remains strong.”
