Multi award-winning Cofton Holidays is hosting a free health and wellbeing weekend packed full of activities for individuals and the family from Friday 1st March to Sunday 3rd March. The event will take place at Ashburn Springs Spa and Leisure featuring its gym and fitness studios.
The event marks the completion of a £17,000 upgrade in new gym equipment at the South Devon holiday park. Visitors who are keen to stay fit and healthy throughout 2019 can now enjoy a muscle working squat rack plus new treadmills and bikes that will get the heart pumping.
Aiming not just to educate visitors on physical fitness but mental and nutritional wellbeing, the weekend gives guests the opportunity to explore the facilities at Ashburn Springs. A range of classes suitable for all fitness levels, will be hosted by Cofton’s professional instructors and guest practitioners.

It’s a chance for guests to witness just how much we offer here at Cofton and meet our professional fitness instructors. The weekend isn’t just about physical fitness either. Health and total wellness is made up of social, emotional, nutritional and physical aspects and our programme of events reflects this.”
Activity kicks off on the Friday with a Row the River Exe Challenge. Running throughout the weekend, visitors are invited to see how fast they can row the ‘virtual’ River Exe using one of Cofton’s rowing machines. Times will be compared at the end of the weekend and the rower who has completed the challenge in the fastest time will win one month’s free membership. For those who are keen to start their fitness journey in 2019, Cofton are offering free gym inductions from 12pm to 3pm. A professional trainer will run through safe and effective use of the brand-new gym equipment and will create a gym programme, tailored to meet health, fitness and wellness goals.
For visitors who prefer the outdoors, Cofton is inviting people to walk the Cofton Mile between 11:30am and 12:30pm, taking in the beautiful countryside and woodlands that surround the holiday park. Alternatively, keen joggers can run the Cofton Mile on the Saturday between 11am and 11:25am. Participants are encouraged to share their photos on social media using the hashtag, #CoftonMile.
Friday ends with a fantastic opportunity to receive free 1-1 swimming technique assessments with Cofton’s own experienced swimming teachers from 5pm to 7pm. Available to children aged three and over and adults of all abilities, the swim clinic will provide coaching and progression tips to help swimmers improve their stroke. Each session will last 20 minutes and must be booked in advance.
For those who would like to get in touch with their inner Yogi, Saturday 2nd March will offer a great range of free classes. Start the day with Rise and Shine Yoga at 9am in the Warren Retreat, which promises to leave you feeling refreshed and awake, ready to take on the weekend. Head to the fitness studio at 3:30pm where you can participate in Yoga Nidra, a class that will guide you into a state of deep relaxation.
Saturday also includes HIIT Cycle, RISE Step Fitness, Pilates, Circuit Training, and a Legs, Bums and Tums class.
Sunday offers the chance to plan fitness goals for 2019. From 11am to 12:30pm, guests can take part in a physical assessment designed to measure overall physical fitness in a sensitive manner. The results will enable visitors to establish and plan effective personal goals and is a great way to monitor ongoing success. Pre-booking is essential for these sessions and the classes throughout the weekend.
Family Aquafit, Fitness Boxing and Pilates classes are also running on Sunday. Throughout the weekend, guest speakers, trainers and practitioners will be offering free taster workshops designed to let guests know about the services they provide. Sessions include Holistic Massage, Qigong, Dancefit and free hand massages. There will also be talks and presentations on Sports Massage, Spinal Health, Osteoporosis, Mental Health and Slimming World. Guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy nutritious food and drink from a special menu in Cofton’s on-site restaurant, Amelia’s Pantry.
After enjoying the range of activities and classes on offer, non-members joining Ashburn Springs over the weekend will receive their first month free, a saving of up to £58. New members will also benefit from a free induction and gym programme.
