Ever wanted to explore a museum at night by torch light and come face-to-face with an ancient Egyptian human mummy? Well now you can this October Half Term week at Torquay Museum, as it throws its doors open to a family-friendly evening torchlit exploration of the Museum in the dark.
There’s a unique and fun-packed week of events planned at Torquay Museum to celebrate October’s national Museum’s at Night week and Halloween.
Events include:
A Family-Friendly Evening Torchlit Exploration of the Museum in the Dark, Sunday 29th October, from 5.30 – 9pm. Come in Halloween fancy dress, win a prize for the best costume, watch a spooky film in the Museum’s cinema, follow the ghostly trail and explore the Museum by torchlight. Tickets are £10 each, £35 for a family of four. Dinner in the Museum’s café is also available as an optional extra. Booking for this event is essential as places are limited.
A free spooky film daily in Torquay Museum’s cinema, plus a Halloween trail throughout October Half Term, Monday 23rd – Friday 27thOctober, 10am – 4pm. Free with standard Museum admission – pay once and get in free for a year.
The Big Virtual Reality Draw, Thursday 26th October, 10am – 4pm. The Museum will host a hands-on family-friendly Virtual Reality drawing and illustration experience in collaboration with Plymouth College of Art. Free with standard Museum admission.
Halloween Ghost Hunt for Adults, Friday 27th October, 8pm until 2am Sunday 30th. A real ghost hunt for the braver adults (accompanied children aged 14 and over are also welcome). Torquay Museum has seen its fair share of paranormal activity on past ghost hunts, so this one will not be for the faint hearted. The evening is led by an experienced local ghost hunting team. Tickets are £25 each.
