Community Comes Together for Hospice Garden Party

On Sunday 9 June, Rowcroft Hospice welcomed over 700 members of the local community to enjoy an afternoon of family fun in its stunning grounds at the Rowcroft Garden Party.

The annual event is an opportunity for Rowcroft supporters and members of the public to explore the beautiful Rowcroft estate and enjoy an afternoon of family fun and live entertainment from the Rowcroft Hospice Choir, Dartington Morris Men, Odds ‘n’ Ends swing band and others.

There really was something for everyone to enjoy with a mobile boutique supplied by the Rowcroft Retail team, ‘posh picnics’, home-made cakes, creepy-crawlies to handle, crafts stalls, garden games, a BBQ – and even a mobile gin bar!

Event organiser, Stewart Molyneux, said: “It’s really amazing when the entire hospice comes together to deliver an event that the whole community can enjoy. Rowcroft needs the support of the local community just as much as ever and to see so many people turn out in support of their local hospice was wonderful. It was the biggest Garden Party we have ever organised; we’re really excited about how we can make it bigger again next year!”

The event raised over £6,000, which goes toward funding Rowcroft’s vital services across 300 square miles of South Devon, caring for over 2000 patients every year. Without the fundraising support of the community, Rowcroft simply would not be able to provide its specialist care.

Rowcroft CEO Mark Hawkins said “Thank you to all those who attended the wonderful Garden Party at Rowcroft on Sunday to celebrate the specialist palliative care we provide across South Devon. It was a fantastic day. We are so proud to care for our local community, of which we are all part, and as a charity we rely on the support of our community to enable us to continue to provide our care. Thank you.”

Select Soccer coach and long-time Rowcroft volunteer, Simon Wallace, added: “We had a brilliant day at the Rowcroft Garden Party. It’s a wonderful event in the hospice grounds and all for a great cause. Thank you to everyone who came along and took part”.

The next event on Rowcroft’s events calendar is the Rowcroft Sleep Walk on 6th July. There’s still time to sign up at www.rowcroftsleepwalk.org.uk
