A cormorant has died after being found wrapped in fishing line, hooks and weights.
The cormorant was taken to Living Coasts Zoo and Aquarium in Torquay but sadly, it died before the keepers could do anything.
Spokesperson for Torquay’s coastal zoo Phil Knowling said: “This is a shocking reminder of just what discarded fishing tackle can do. A beautiful wild bird has died because someone didn’t tidy up after themselves. People simply need to be a bit more responsible and a lot more careful.”
Living Coasts carries out regular community beach cleans around the Bay and campaigns against marine plastics.
