A cyclist was taken to hospital this afternoon following a collision with a car.
The incident happened around 12.45pm today, Tuesday 12th June on Newton Road, Torquay.
Police, ambulance and fire crews attended the scene with police directing traffic.
One fire engine from Torquay was mobilised to the incident.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said on their website:
“On arrival the officer in charge confirmed one male cyclist impaled on handlebars after falling onto the road. Crews got to work with small tools and hydraulic cutting equipment to release the male from the handlebars.
“The male was released from the handlebars with a upper thigh injury and was conveyed to hospital via land ambulance,”
