Rowcroft Hospice challenges you to dance to make a difference in its first-ever fundraising danceathon – Let’s Dance – on Saturday 16 September at the Riviera International Centre, Torquay. Starting at 4pm and open to all, the seven-hour sponsored dancing challenge will celebrate the flavours of dance, starting with high energy sessions in Zumba, street dance, cheesy dancing, Bollywood, and barn dancing, and culminating in an iconic disco journey through the decades with South Devon’s leading DJs Mike and Ben McGowan playing a mix of disco, house and funk and a whole lot more.
All funds raised from the event will go to care for patients and their loved ones living with life-limiting illnesses across South Devon. Sign-ups are open now at rowcrofthospice.org.uk/letsdance with an early bird discount of 20% off the £15 entry price (£10 for under 16s) when using code ROCK before midnight on 21 May 2023.
“We’re so excited to be launching this brand new event for 2023,” said Rowcroft’s Events Manager Alexia Croft. “We have an electrifying line-up that promises heaps of fun and a sensational night to remember, and we’re so grateful to everyone who’s supporting the event. People can take part in the way that works for them – whether they want to take on the full seven-hour challenge, or dance through just one or two of the sessions. Or they can join the event as a team and do a dancing relay.
“Let’s Dance is open to all – regardless of fitness levels or dancing ability/style – so please do sign up and join in the fun as you’re sure to have the time of your life! We’re really hoping that as many people as possible, including families, will sign up for this amazing challenge and help us to raise as much money as possible for the hospice.”
The Let’s Dance line-up starts at 4pm with a Zumba warm up presented by leading fitness instructor Kelly Saunders. This is followed at 5pm by a fun session led by Zoe Bowden and featuring popular interactive disco tunes. At 6pm, it’s a street dance and Bollywood slot presented by Ami Lauren, followed by barn dancing at 7pm with Band from the Moor. Then from 8pm to 11pm, DJs Mike and Ben McGowan will take participants on a dance journey through the decades, travelling through the 70s, 80s and 90s and finishing with a party hour.
“All funds raised from the night will enable the hospice to provide specialist care and support to local patients and their loved ones living with life-limiting illnesses who are facing the hardest times imaginable,” added Alexia Croft. “Each year, we care for more than 2000 patients across South Devon – from Dartmouth to Dawlish and up onto Dartmoor – and our fundraising events are crucial in raising money for this essential care.”
The event is being sponsored by Home Instead South Devon.
Denise Clark Community Engagement Officer at Home Instead South Devon said: “We are so proud to be the sponsor for Rowcroft Hospice’s fabulous new event, Let’s Dance. Together, with the support of the local community, I know we can raise lots of money for this very worthy cause.”
Anyone over the age of eight can take part in Let’s Dance. It costs just £15 for those aged 16 and over to sign up (£10 for under 16s), and Rowcroft asks that you raise or donate a minimum of £20 to support the hospice. Or if you prefer, you can purchase a non-sponsorship adult ticket for £35.
Book your place before midnight on 21 May 2023 with code ROCK and get a 20% early bird discount on the £15 entry price (£10 for under 16s). For further information, see: rowcrofthospice.org.uk/letsdance
