Blackpool has topped the list of dangerous drinking black spots.
The list was compiled by looking at the highest rates of drinkers who have needed hospital treatment and according to the figures, Blackpool has become the dangerous drinking capital of England.
The figures, uncovered by Labour MP Liam Byrne, saw that Blackpool had 1,230.5 per 100,000 population needing treatment last year.
So, did anywhere in the South West feature on the list? Well, Bristol is number 40…
And Torbay can be seen at number 20!
So why does Torbay make it onto a list mainly made up of cities? The fact that Torbay Hospital serves a wider area than Torbay, a number of visiting tourists, Stag/Hen parties, Conventions such as the young farmers or maybe the people of Torbay can’t handle their drink? Maybe Noodleit had it right 5 years ago?
And here is the full list…
I’m sure Blackpool wont want congratulating on being first.
