Renowned Devon artist Ellie Johnson, aka Mrs Murals, has completed the second of three murals in Brixham.
The artwork has been commissioned by Brixham Future, a Community Interest Company, who are working to maintain and improve the built heritage and beautiful natural environment of Brixham.
Brixham Future says : “We are developing an Art Trail in town as part of our micro-regeneration strategy to bring interest and colour to mainly (but not exclusively) abandoned or neglected spaces in order to raise pride in place and make use of social spaces within town”.
Mrs Murals will be completing three murals in total, two of which reflect the marine heritage of Brixham. The first mural was on a fish and chip shop and depicts fishermen and marine life; the second is a shop front in the town centre which is a seascape with tall ships including some of Brixham’s heritage fleet. The murals are already proving very popular with people stopping to admire them and chat to Mrs Murals.
Mrs Murals will be starting the third mural in the town centre shortly, which will be in the alleyway next to the Fudge U Love shop in Brixham.
Mrs Murals said:”It was a real pleasure to paint this fleet in tribute to the history of Brixham, which includes locally built trawlers named Pilgrim, Provident and Vigilance.
“I created the design using photos by the very talented local photographer Chris Slack Photography
“Once again I’ve been touched by the warmth and beauty of Brixham and can’t wait to come back to paint more!”
