A dog has died following a cliff fall in Exmouth last night, Saturday 15 August.
Two Coastguard crew, Exmouth Coastguard Rescue Team and Beer Coastguard Rescue Team attended the incident at Orcombe point just after 9pm.
Unfortunately the dog did not survive the fall.
A spokesperso for Beer Coastguard Rescue Team said: “The owner was in a distressed state looking for the dog.
“Exmouth team were first on scene and located the dog on the beach, unfortunately the dog was deceased.
“As a rope rescue was not required we were stood down and returned to station.
Our thoughts are with the owners.
“If your walking you dogs on the cliffs please keep them on a lead at all times.”
Exmouth Coastguard Rescue Team have stated that this is the second call-out in 10 days to dogs over the cliff where they have died as a result. They have also reminded people to keep their dogs on a lead near cliffs.
