A man has died after being struck by a tyre on the A38 today, Tuesday 1 September.
The incident happened this morning on the A38 between the Drumbridges Roundabout and Chudleigh Knighton junction near Newton Abbot
The tyre appeared to have come off a passing vehicle, which struck the pedestrian, a local man in his 70s, who was walking a dog.
His next-of-kin has been informed.
Police, ambulance crews and air ambulance attended the scene.
A road closure was in place whilst investigation work took place.
The vehicle has been traced and enquiries are being made with the driver.
