Donations have been pouring in to try and save an annual bike festival held in Paignton.
It was announced last week, on Thursday 1st November that BMAD festival 2019 had been cancelled due to what the organiser described as rising costs and not enough sponsors, along with other reasons. [More here.]
Last night, Kelvin Halloran said on Facebook: “We have had such an overwhelming response with the news of the cancellation of the BMAD festival and it has touched our hearts. We thought we would give it one last go. SO ….it’s over to you good people. We will be doing a crowd funding page. If you want it please fund it. If we do not get enough to pay for the event then all the money will go to the causes that we support. Please look out for the crowd funding page. Many thanks. Kelv and Jayne and all the BMAD crew.”
The gofundme page has currently raised over £2000 in less than 24 hours. The target is £30000.
BMAD (bikers make a difference) started in 2002 by founders Kelvin and Jayne Halloran who had an idea to have a social gathering of bikers on Paignton sea front to raise money for charity.
BMAD held its 13th Festival this year, drawing thousands of the people to the area for the annual get together.
With bikes, beer, displays and bands, and something to keep the whole family entertained, it is a hugely popular event.
