Emergency services were called to reports of a fire in Preston, Paignton in the early hours of this morning, 24th June.
Emergency services were alerted to the fire at around 2.20am
Initially, two fire appliances from Paignton were mobilised to the fire in Colin Road, Preston with reports of people still in the building.
Appliances from Torquay were later mobilised to the fire in the ground floor flat of a three storey house
A Fire Investigation Officer also attended along with police and ambulance crews.
The fire, in the bedroom of the ground flat was 50% damaged by fire, 100% damage by smoke. The fire service have said that the remainder of the building was 50% damaged by smoke.
Crews used six breathing apparatus, three hose reel jets, one safety jet, one covering jet, positive pressure ventilation, thermal imaging camera, small tools and lighting in the incident.
The fire service have stated that the cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.
