Elderly and vulnerable targeted in gardening scam

Police have warned people to be aware of a local scam, where elderly and vulnerable people have been pressured into having unnecessary gardening work done.

Brixham Police said on social media: “We have received reports of people attending elderly & vulnerable people’s addresses pressuring them into unnecessary gardening work. No reputable firm would be cold calling in a National Lockdown.

“Please be vigilant & do not agree to work offered by unsolicited doorstep callers, the risks are high.”

Adding “Please pass the above advice to elderly relatives & neighbours who are most susceptible to these kind of scams.”
