Emergency services called out to person in the sea this evening

Emergency Services were called to Torquay  this evening after reports of a person in the sea near the pier.

Police, the fire service, RNLI, Coastguard and ambulance service attended the incident by Princess Pier at around 9pm.

The person was taken into the care of the ambulance service after leaving the water.

A spokesperson for Torbay Coastguard posted on social media:
“Full team page to reports of a person in the water at Princess Pier. We were stood down on route as Coastguard rescue officers on scene reported the casualty was out of the water and in the care of the ambulance service. Torbay ILB and Fire and rescue were also in attendance,”
