Emergency services called to Torquay house fire

Update: The roads are now open.

Update: Union Street is now closed to traffic from the Printers Elbow. Morgan Avenue is also closed. Nearly residents have been advised to close windows due to asbestos.

Firefighters remain at the scene of a property fire in Torquay. Emergency services were called to the fire just before Midday today.

Smoke can still be seen coming from the property in Palm Road.

Police and three fire engines are at the scene in Torre. The aeriel platform has just arrived.

It is understood the occupants of the property got out safely.

Sands Road is blocked but Union Street is currently passable.
