The fire service was called to a house fire on Sherwell Valley Road this evening.

Fire crews were mobilised to the fire at around 9pm. One appliance from Torquay and one appliance from Paignton were initially mobilised. On arrival crews requested a further appliance to attend which was sent from Torquay and also requested the attendance of the Aerial Ladder Platform, also sent from Torquay.

A spokesperson for the fire service said:

“Crews requested that 2 Ambulances attend due to one casualty suffering from smoke inhalation and burns and another having a suspected seizure.

“The Red Cross were also mobilised to attend the incident,”

Fire Crews extinguished the fire at the 3 storey semi detached house using 6 Breathing Apparatus, 2 Hose Reel Jets, 1 Safety Jet, 1 Main Jet, 1 Positive Pressure Ventilation Fan, 2 Thermal Imaging Cameras and 2 sets of Oxygen Therapy kits.

Fire Investigation is being carried out to determine the cause of the fire.
