Police have said emergency services are massively stretched due to an on-going major incident involving an overturned double decker bus.

Kingsbridge Police said on Facebook: “Due to an ongoing major incident in Totnes, emergency services are massively stretched. Please only call if absolutely necessary. Go to www.dc.police.uk for ways to contact us.

“If an ambulance is not absolutely necessary, please use other methods such as finding your own way to hospital. Thanks very much”

Emergency services remain at the scene of the incident on the A385 Totnes Road.

Police, fire and ambulance crews are in attendance.

Totnes police said on Facebook: “Major incident declared as a double decker bus has overturned on the A385 near to Longcombe Cross.

“The road is currently closed in both directions. Please bear with us as we deal with the incident and do completely avoid the area and surrounding lanes, including the Berry Pomeroy road until further notice,”

Traffic between Paignton and Totnes is affected.
