The area is cordoned off and one lane remains closed.

Tor Bay harbour authority and beaches said that the contractor will be treating the hole in a similar manner to how they remedied the first one some 200 yards down the road towards Paignton.

Torbay Council said on Facebook this morning: “An inspection was carried out at last nights high tide and emergency work has been planned for today.

“The lane closure will need to stay in place while this works is carried out to allow for a safe working zone and to ensure that vibrations from the highway do not affect the void any further. We will get this lifted as soon as it is safe to do so.”
