Torbay Council is working with community partners to bring you your English Riviera Airshow 2024.
Planning is underway for the two-day flying spectacular to return to the English Riviera on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 June 2024.
Community members, organisations, and businesses have started to plan how everyone in the local community can be involved in the English Riviera’s biggest event – but we can’t do it alone.
The English Riviera BID Company, and Bigwave Marketing, have already pledged their support to bring you ‘Your English Riviera Airshow’.
Delivering the English Riviera Airshow in a new way, means support from the community is vital to ensure the event can go ahead. A key element of the 2024 event will be using as many local suppliers, traders, volunteers, and businesses as possible.
The team behind planning the event is keen to hear from people in the community who have experience and skills in event management, event trader and caterer liaison, programme selling, event disability area management, volunteer coordination and management, managing donation buckets, bar staff and staff management. Perhaps there’s someone in the community who is a registered Flying Display Director that would be interested in supporting the event.
Maybe you are a business who might not be able to provide financial support in the form of sponsorship but could provide essential event infrastructure such as security, fencing or other site amenities or contributions. Local event organisers with experience of hosting live music events are also encouraged to come forward.
Bronze, silver, and gold sponsorship packages are available, with packages starting from £950.00.
All sponsors will get tailored pre-event, event, and post event exposure for their business.
In addition, for either sponsorship or event support, all supporters of the event will get their business promoted to over 65,000 people, not only over the two-day event, but also to social media audience of over 88,000 followers, as well as recognition in regional and national press.
A Community Donation page has been set up for businesses and anyone who enjoys watching the English Riviera Airshow. A donation of £10 can make all the difference, with all donations going towards the overall cost of putting on the event. Donations can be made via: https://englishrivieraairshow.co.uk/get-involved/support/
The applications for the display teams we want to bring to the English Riviera Airshow have been submitted, we will know the outcome in the Spring of 2024. If we are successful with our request for some of the RAFs most loved and noisy display teams, the flight display cost will be in the region of £120,000. The more financial support that can be generated, the more display teams we can bring you.
If the cost of the event isn’t covered through sponsorship and donations it could mean no English Riviera Airshow in 2024. This would have a significant impact on local businesses, especially those in the hospitality and tourism sector. Research following the 2023 English Riviera Airshow showed that for every £1 spent it generated £15.56 for the local economy. Our goal is to ultimately keep delivering the English Riviera Airshow and keeping as much of that spend in the Bay as possible.
Cllr Adam Billings, Cabinet Member for Pride in Place, Culture & Events and Parking for Torbay Council, said; “The English Riviera Airshow is the largest free event in the Bay. For many years we have worked with a third party to help us deliver the event. We’re now working with our community partners and businesses to bring you ‘Your English Riviera Airshow’ as we know it is enjoyed by thousands of local people from in and around Torbay. It takes a lot of time to plan an event of this scale, the work already underway shows just how much the event means.”
Carolyn Custerson, Chief Executive Officer, English Riviera BID Company Ltd, said; “This event draws crowds from all over the UK and is the one that local tourism and hospitality sector benefits from the most. The support we’ve already received from local businesses shows just how important this event is, not only for the economy, but it’s a great opportunity for families and people of all ages to come together and experience the excitement of some of the world’s best aerobatic display teams.”
Simon Beer, Managing Director of Bigwave Marketing said; “We are thrilled to sponsor the Airshow, an event that brings people together and attracts visitors from all over the UK. As a marketing agency, our focus is on connecting businesses to their communities, and we support a wide range of Torbay businesses, destinations, and organisations to do just that. The Airshow is a fantastic event that delivers on those aims and supports the local economy, so we felt there was a natural synergy. We look forward to both promoting and watching the show in 2024!”.
