Fallen power cables close A38

Update: The road is now open.

The A38 is closed in both directions this evening, Friday 11th October, after power cables came down.

The road is closed between Ivy bridge and Wrangaton.

Engineers, police, fire crews and highways are at the scene.

#Devon A38 between Woodpecker Jct and Ivybridge closed both directions while engineers make safe fallen power cables. Diversions but traffic is queueing. Tailbacks to Lee Mill in one direction & Marley head in other. Police are saying road will be shut for number of hours.[SG]

Kingsbridge police posted on social media:

“The A38 is currently closed in both directions between Ivybridge and Wrangaton due to a power cable that’s down. Due to this the local roads around Ivybridge, Bittaford, Ugborough and Ermington are extremely busy.

“Please seek an alternative route if possible. Western power are at the scene and we’ll keep you updated when it’s reopened”
