His body was found in Longdown near Exeter by Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team two days later.

His family have paid the following tribute to him: “We are heartbroken at the loss of our dear son and brother, Rory. He brought great happiness and joy to our lives, and we now realise how much he touched the lives of many others too.

“We will miss him desperately, and are devastated that he will not be able to realise all his hopes and dreams.”

The police are not treating Rory’s death as suspicious and a file is to be prepared for the coroner.

The family has asked for privacy at this difficult time.
