Fire crews called to rowing club fire

Fire crews were called to reports of a fire at Paignton rowing club this morning.

Three appliances from Torquay and Paignton mobilised to the incident at around 9.30am.

A spokesperson for the fire service said:
“Fire control mobilised 3 appliances from Torquay and Paignton to the above location after reports of a fire within the property.

“On arrival, crews confirmed that there was a fire in the commercial kitchen of the property, crews used 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets, ventilation fan and 2 thermal image cameras”

The incident commander confirmed the industrial kitchen was severely damaged by fire, and the rest of the first floor was severely damaged by heat and smoke.

The cause is under investigation.
