Fire crews called to skip and diesel tank fire

The fire service was called to reports of a fire at Pridhamsleigh Quarry, Ashburton just after 6pm this evening.

One appliance from Buckfastleigh was mobilised. On arrival crews discovered a skip alight involving a diesel tank. A second appliance from Ashburton was also mobilised to the incident.

Crews used two breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one main jet, water from a street hydrant and one thermal imaging camera.

Both the skip and the diesel tank were severely damaged by the fire.
