Fire crews called to Babbacombe fire

Fire crews from across the area are dealing with a thatch roof fire in Netherton, between Shaldon and Newton Abbot this evening.

Crews from Newton Abbot, Torquay, Teignmouth, Paignton, Dawlish and Totnes were mobilised to reports of a thatch roof fire at Brook Cottages.

On arrival crews discovered the thatched property consisting of two different properties well alight.

At 8.37pm, the fire service stated that good progress was being made, with six breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one CAFs jet and the aerial ladder platform still in use.
