The fire service was called to reports of a fire at a flat in Braddons Hill Road East, Wellswood, Torquay this evening, 30th July.
Two fire appliances from Torquay and Paignton attended the incident at around 5.30pm.
An ambulance also attended the scene.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said on their website:
“The building was being evacuated at the time of call and shortly after arriving crews confirmed the small fire, within the flat, was out on our arrival.
“Crews confirmed the fire had started accidentally, and made the scene safe, before leaving duty of care for the socially rented flat with a responsible person, as the male occupant of the flat, in his 20s, was left in the care of paramedics needing medical assistance, but not fire related,”
