Fire crews from across South Devon have been tackling a blaze at a pub in Chudleigh Knighton.

Fire crews were called to the blaze just after 2.30am this morning. Appliances from Newton Abbot, Moretonhampstead, Torquay, Totnes, Teignmouth and Buckfastleigh were mobilised to the fire at the Anchor Inn on Plymouth Road.

Crews battled the blaze to try and stop it spreading to adjoining properties.

A fire service spokeperson said:
“A building measuring approx 30m x 40m used as a public house with adjacent cottage severely damaged by fire, 2 main jets, 2 hose reel jets and positive pressure ventilation fans in use. The incident has been sectorised into 5 sectors, efforts are being made to prevent fire spread to attached properties and barn,”

Fire crews have started to leave the scene.
