Work to replace the railway bridge on Torbay Road is overrunning and the road will be closed for a further 4 weeks.
Work began on Monday 3 January and were due to take about nine weeks to complete, with plans to reopen the road on Tuesday 8 March 2022.
Work will now be completed on Friday 8 April.
A spokesperson for Torbay Council said: “The reason is due to a number of issues the contractors have faced, including relocating utility services and a supply delay with the construction and delivery of the new bridge .
“The diversions that are already in place will be extended until Friday 8 April.
“Thank you to those that have been using the diversions and please be mindful of residents of Wheatridge Lane who need to get in and out of their driveways while there is extra traffic on this road.”
