Free support for creative businesses in Torbay

Creative businesses based in Torbay are invited to take part in a government-funded support scheme which can help them to grow and succeed.

The Devon Create Growth Programme is being delivered by Creative UK in partnership with Torbay Council. Funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the programme is open to any Devon-based business with creativity at its heart and a strong ambition to grow and improve its business performance.

This includes businesses in advertising and marketing; architecture; crafts; design and designer fashion; film, TV, video, radio and photography; IT, software and computer services (including gaming); publishing; museums, galleries and libraries; music, performing and visual arts.

There are two support programmes available: a six-month programme aimed at supporting creatives with a new or emerging business; and a nine-month programme for businesses who are ambitious about commercial models, growth and investment. Both programmes are completely free for participating businesses. The programmes focus on helping creative businesses to build sustainably and commercially and provide plenty of in-person opportunities and flexible online sessions or drops-ins.

To find out more, creative businesses are welcome to attend the Torbay launch event which takes place at 5:30pm on Wednesday 24th January 2024 at the Palace Theatre in Paignton. Representatives from Creative UK will be giving a presentation about the programme and answering questions, followed by drinks and networking. To book your free place visit www.wearecreative.uk/event/devon-launch-event-torbay/

Applications for the Devon Create Growth Programme are now open and close on 1st April 2024 (for the six-month programme) and 4th March (for the nine-month programme). For more information and to apply, visit Devon Create Growth Programme – Creative UK (wearecreative.uk)

Councillor Chris Lewis, Cabinet Member for Place Services and Economic Growth for Torbay Council, said: ‘‘Whether you are just starting out with a creative business or are looking to grow, Devon Create Growth Programme can support you with specialist creative sector advice, mentors and training which will help your business to thrive. I encourage all Torbay businesses with creativity at their core to get involved and find out how they could benefit from this free support.’’
