Get involved with local Love Parks Week events in Torbay

Torbay residents are encouraged to get involved with a range of local events taking place for Love Parks Week (29 July – 5 August 2022).

A tree identification walk, children’s nature activities, and art and craft activities are just some of the events taking place that are open to all.

Love Parks Week is a national campaign led by Keep Britain Tidy to celebrate what’s great about our parks and green spaces.

Leader of Torbay Council Steve Darling said: “Love Parks Week is a great opportunity to enjoy and tell everyone else about Torbay’s fantastic green spaces. They belong to all of us and if anything have become more important than ever to us over the past couple of years, for both physical and mental wellbeing.

“So do get involved with events in your area for Love Parks Week.”

Councillor Mike Morey, Cabinet Member for Infrastructure, Environment and Culture for Torbay Council, said: “We’re pleased to work with SWISCo and other local partners such as Friends of Stoodley Knowle, Torbay Community Development Trust, Saving Devon’s Treescapes and Devon Wildlife Trust to bring you these events. Don’t forget it’s not just Love Parks Week – there are also loads of local Friends of groups for green spaces in Torbay, as well as the Community Partnerships, and other opportunities such as our Tree Warden volunteering scheme, with activities for all ages and abilities.

”More information on these events or getting more involved in your local green space or Friends of group, contact Hannah Worthington – hannah.worthington@swisco.co.uk or call 07548 704876.
