Torbay Council and Continental Drifts are delighted to announce that Minigog, a micro version of Grinagog Festival, will be coming to Torbay this Easter holiday.
Minigog will run on Saturday 13 April 2019 at Torre Abbey’s Spanish Barn and Gardens.
Festivalgoers can expect an action packed day of fun and mischief with performances from the likes of Dutty Moonshine Big Band, Neville Staples (The Specials) who will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of 2 Tone Records.
There will be family friendly events during the day, followed by an evening of live music and DJ performances including Dat Brass, DJ Chris Tofu, and Drum and Bass legend Mr Nice. In addition, there will be a full day line up in the One World Café, creating the ultimate party atmosphere in the heart of Torbay.
As previously reported the Grinagog Festival will not be taking place this year, however Torbay Council has been working with event organisers to see if alternative Grinagog style events could be staged in Torbay.
Cllr Nicole Amil, Executive Lead for Tourism, Culture and Harbours, said “It is wonderful that Continental Drifts and our home grown promoters have been able to work with us to bring a smaller version of this popular festival back to Torbay this Easter. Without their input, expertise and financial backing Minigog would not have been possible.”
Chris Macmeikan, from Continental Drifts, said: “Following the news that Grinagog Festival would not be returning in 2019, I spoke with some of the local promoters who worked on Grinagog and we felt that it would be a real shame for the people of Torbay if the essence of Grinagog was not carried on so we approached Torbay Council with an alternative plan.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be able to stage Minigog this April, we are working on a great line of up of performers, artists and DJs that will appeal to a wide range of audiences.”
The concept of the Grinagog Festival is to showcase the best local music, artistic and creative talents and to link it to some of the best visiting music talent from around the UK and the world. Its extensive and diverse programme of music genres, arts and activities attracted more than 4,000 people during the two previous successful events held in 2017 and 2018. Minigog will take this concept forward for 2019. For more information and to purchase tickets for Minigog visit www.grinagogfestival.com or follow the Grinagog social media channels.
