Have your say on how to improve your health and wellbeing

Torbay’s Health and Wellbeing Board want to hear from those who live in the Bay about what is important to them when it comes to their health and wellbeing.

Every four years Torbay Council has a duty to produce a Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy. This strategy has been prepared in collaboration with the Health and Wellbeing Board partners and other organisations within the Bay. It will guide the Board’s work over the next four years.

The strategy sets out those areas the Board feels are the biggest health challenges in Torbay. These have come from working with and listening to local statutory, voluntary and community partners.

The five priority areas that have been identified are:

o   Improving mental health and wellbeing

o   Promoting healthy ageing

o   Enabling a good start to life

o   Supporting people with complex needs

o   Promoting digital inclusion

Each priority area has a range of goals and actions, and the Board would like to hear from residents about which of these are most important to them. They would also like to hear of any ideas they may have on what is needed in these areas to help Torbay’s residents and communities thrive.

Councillor Jackie Stockman, Cabinet Member for Adults and Public Health said: “Everyone in our community should have the opportunity to have good health and wellbeing, and we want to create an environment where all our residents and communities can grow and thrive. To increase the health and wellbeing of the people in Torbay we need to work across all sectors to address the factors that influence these. This Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy sets out our focus areas and key actions to improve lives in Torbay over the next four years and we now want to hear from our residents and communities about what is important to them and how we can all work together to improve our health and wellbeing.”

The consultation is open for the next six weeks and will be closing at midnight on Sunday 15 May 2022. The consultation can be found on Torbay Councils website. If you would like paper copies or have the consultation in other formats, please call 01803 207777 or email PublicHealth@torbay.gov.uk.

Information about who is represented and attends the Health and Wellbeing Board can be found on Torbay Council’s website.
