Help the Greater Horseshoe Bat

Did you know that Torbay is home to the endangered Greater Horseshoe Bat?

The greater horseshoe bat is rare in the British Isles and is confined to south-west England and south Wales

Occombe farm help maintain the bats’ habitat by farming organically and laying hedgerows which are crucial in supporting foraging areas. .

“We are running a free hedgelaying event where people can come along, learn all about hedge laying and help maintain a bat-friendly habitat.

“Meet at Occombe Farm outside the café. Wear strong footwear and suitable clothing. We’ll provide tea, coffee and biscuits but please bring a packed lunch (or you can purchase hot food from the Café). All tools, gloves and training provided.“

Date: Tuesday 17th February
Where: Occombe Farm, Paignton
Time: 9.30am – 3.30pm
