Exeter renters who have been unable to save for a large house deposit may now be able to buy thanks to zero or low-deposit mortgages and help from a local homebuilder.

Redrow South West, currently building at St Michael’s Meadow on Chudleigh Road, is offering advice and support to first-time buyers who want to escape the rental trap and step onto the property ladder in Exeter.

Sian Smith, Sales Director at Redrow South West, said: “With the news that Skipton Building Society is now offering zero deposit mortgages* for people who have rented for at least 12 months, the options for first-time buyers without substantial savings have increased.

“One of the advantages of buying a brand-new property is that purchasers have help and support at every step, from the moment they choose their plot to opening their front door for the very first time. Along the journey, house buyers have access to our recommended solicitors and mortgage specialists, who can help to provide the best products available and who are experts in the Exeter property market.”

Skipton’s new five-year fixed rate Track Record Mortgage is open to first-time buyers aged 21 or over, who have been renting and paying bills for at least 12 consecutive months. The offer does not require a family member or friend to act as a guarantor and cannot be used to buy a new build apartment.

Those looking to take advantage of this offer can do so at Redrow South West’s St Michael’s Meadow development, which offers a collection of three and four-bedroom homes from the housebuilder’s Heritage Collection, featuring architecture inspired by the Arts and Crafts era and high spec, modern interiors.

The three-bedroom Letchworth, available from £389,995, is perfect for those looking for a touch of luxury, with a spacious interior featuring an open-plan kitchen and dining area that opens out into the garden – great for socialising, while maintaining a separate lounge which provides an area to relax. Upstairs, there is a stylish en-suite to the main bedroom, along with a well-sized second bedroom, while the third can serve as a children’s room, wellness space or a home office.

Sian Smith added: “The Letchworth is perfect for couples, professionals and growing families alike. Those who have been renting can move straight in with no need to undertake any costly renovations or maintenance work – leaving more money left over for those all-important takeaways when you’re still unpacking.

“Every home at St Michael’s Meadow boasts high specification kitchens and bathrooms with appliances included and buyers can choose from a host of options and extras via My Redrow, the exclusive members’ area of our website, to add those all-important finishing touches.”

St Michael’s Meadow is an exciting development of premium three and four-bedroom homes, situated in a charming yet rural location, perfectly placed for amenities with the city centre 2.6 miles away. The development is well connected with Exeter Airport, Exeter train station and the M5 all nearby.
