Iconic Battle of Britain Memorial Flight confirmed to return to the English Riviera Airshow

The countdown is on until Torbay is packed with locals and day-trippers setting up chairs and flocking to the beach to witness the return of the English Riviera Airshow. With the RAF Red Arrows already confirmed to lead the way with breath-taking stunts and displays, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is also set to wow crowds as they soar across the skies.

Organised by Torbay Council with support from key event partner the English Riviera BID Company, the two-day event being held on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 June will deliver an action-packed flying programme between 11am and 6pm.

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF), which usually features the Avro Lancaster, Supermarine Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane, will take action on both days of the airshow. The BBMF is a symbol of the Royal Air Force’s finest hour, made up of the three of the most iconic aircraft in world aviation history.

Not only can visitors expect a jam-packed weekend filled with stunning air-displays, on the ground entertainment with flight teams, all the fun of the fair and delicious food and drinks from local traders, this year’s edition of the airshow will see the return of SkyBar, which is set to offer stellar evening entertainment.

After the final flight team sends roars across the bay, SkyBar will open to the public free of charge. With Classic Motown, a dash of Northern-Soul and a pinch of 70’s funky disco from the Motown Pirates and pop, folk and rock from Boundless Brothers, entertainment will start from 5.30pm and run through to 10pm.

Set under stretch tents and marquees, SkyBar will host an exclusive pop-up bar, adding a touch of après-sea vibes to the English Riviera Airshow.

Cllr Swithin Long, Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration, Tourism and Housing for Torbay Council said: “The deep engine rumbles and elegance of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight never fails to wow the crowds, and we’re delighted to once again welcome them back to the English Riviera Airshow.

“It’s never too early to start planning your airshow weekend whether that’s by booking accommodation, parking or rounding up friends to enjoy an evening at Skybar.”

Cllr Nicole Amil, Chair of the Airshow Working Party for Torbay Council said: “The English Riviera Airshow is a fantastic event which continues to attract huge crowds to our stunning internationally recognised resort. Following on from the success of last year’s special Jubilee event, we’re glad to be bringing back musical entertainment for the evenings for the community to enjoy.”

Those looking to join the spectacular by car can now purchase their car parking tickets for £15 (plus booking fee) over on the English Riviera Airshow website. https://englishrivieraairshow.co.uk/parking-tickets/

The official designated car park for the free-to-attend event is the Victoria Car Park on Garfield Road, Paignton, and is just a short walk from the main event site on Paignton Green.

The English Riviera Airshow holds significant importance in positioning the English Riviera as a tourist destination. Attracting large crowds from across the UK it has a significant impact on the local community and continues to be supported by the English Riviera BID Company. With so much activity taking place across the two days, visitors are encouraged to come along and make a weekend of it.
