Emergency services were alerted to an injured walker in the Watcombe area of Torquay yesterday afternoon, Thursday 27 July.
A woman had slipped down a muddy track and had a suspected broken arm.
Coastguard crews, Coastguard helicopter and paramedics attended the incident.
A spokesperson for Brixham Coastguard Rescue Team said: “Brixham Coastguard Rescue Team Torbay and Paignton were tasked to an injured walker near Whitsand beach in Torquay.
“A women slid down a very steep muddy track above Whitsand beach and sustained a suspected broken arm.
“Due to the steepness of the track and it being very slippery, a Helicopter was used to winch the women to safety. The Helicopter winch was made more of a challenge due to the tree cover in the area.
“Once the women was safely recovered the Coastguard teams lowered a Rope Technician down to recover the women’s partner and a Paramedic back safely to the top.”
Following the rescue, the woman was airlifted by Coastguard helicopter and then transferred to a waiting ambulance at Torquay Boy’s Grammar School.
