Kents Cavern has announced today that it will be reopening 11th July.
Tickets will need to be prebooked and go on sale at 9am Saturday 4th July.
Tours will be limited to a maximum of 10 people and need to be prebooked.
A spokesperson for Kents Cavern said on Facebook: “On 19th June 1880 guided tours of Kents Cavern began. 140 years on, I can announce the caves will reopen on Saturday 11th July.
“Tickets go on sale at 9am on Saturday 4th July.
“The upper limit on tours is now only 10 people and all tours need to be pre-booked. This will allow us to properly manage visitors inline with current guidance. The entry price has been lowered to £12 per person. Full details can be found on the Reopening Plan page on the website.
“What can you expect visiting Kents Cavern? Well a more relaxed and personal experience for sure. We have changed the arrival process and visitor flow, the layout has been re-jigged to create an airy and spacious reception space, with a new pre-tour briefing area from where our experienced cave tour guides will begin.
“The sheer size of the cave means we can retain access to all underground chambers in accordance with current measures. The restaurant operation will be cut back to a takeaway “coffee shop” with “grab-‘n-go” food on offer, but our focus on quality and taste of Devon remains.
“All cave tours have to be pre-booked, and that is the only way to see the caves. We are expecting high demand for the much reduced availability. Please share with your friends and particularly your guests, and encourage them to pre-book activities before they arrive in Devon. Just turning up to on the day to visit will lead to disappointment.
“There is a great opportunity for families and “family bubbles” to book out an entire tour and enjoy a private tour of the caves. We have also increased our hours of operation and this will make tours available a traditionally quieter times for those maybe feeling anxious about crowds.
“All the team here are really looking forward to welcome you back in July.”
