Police have updated the public this morning following an appeal yesterday, Wednesday 5 April, to help them identify/locate a young girl spotted alone in Torquay.
Police were called at around 11am to the Hele area after a girl, possibly aged around 6, knocked at the door of a property. It was reported she said she was lost before running away.
Police have described the girl as a white female with long blonde hair tied up in pig tails, she was of skinny build and was wearing a black coat.
Police carried out active searches involving the police helicopter and Search and Rescue dogs of the area.
A Devon & Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Following our media appeal, we received a number of calls from the public providing information which officers followed up last night. At this time, we have not been able to identify the young girl seen in the picture.
“Following the initial call to police yesterday morning, we have not received any further reports of sightings of the girl or any reports of missing children in the area.
“We are still keen to identify the girl and check on her safety and welfare, our enquiries will continue today and I would encourage people to keep reporting any relevant information to us.”
Anyone with information which may assist police in identifying the young girl or may assist with our enquiries is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 227 of 5 April.
