League of Friends celebrate opening of newly refurbished area at Torbay Hospital

Torbay Hospital’s League of Friends are celebrating the opening of their newly refurbished area in Torbay Hospital. The new space will provide the League with a dedicated hub from which they can provide their range of services which includes fundraising and distribution of information on the League itself.

The League of Friends is a charity that over the years has made significant contributions to improve levels of care for the people of Torbay and South Devon through fundraising events and donations. This includes funding towards the Critical Care Unit at Torbay Hospital and purchasing new high-tech medical equipment for multiple teams across the Trust.

The space which was officially opened by Chairman of Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, Sir Richard Ibbotson and Chief Executive Liz Davenport. Working in partnership with the Trust, the new area was co-designed by the League of Friends and Eagle Signs.

Sir Richard Ibbotson said: “We are thrilled to support our outstanding League of Friends and are delighted with their new space. We owe them thanks for their understanding during the disruption caused by the move. The refurbished and improved area will provide the League with enhanced signage and a greater identity within level 2 of Torbay Hospital where their offices and successful Butterfly Café are based. This can only benefit the people that we serve.”

On the opening, Philip White, Secretary and Vice President of the League of Friends said “We are absolutely delighted with our new ‘home’. Now that everything is in place we can look forward to continuing to help patients and supporting Torbay Hospital from our much improved and very smart area at the centre of the Outpatients Department”.

Andrew Carter from Eagle Signs commented: “It was great to work with the League of Friends and hopefully boost their incredible fundraising efforts. We sincerely hope that the League of Friends team will be extremely happy in their new ‘home!'”
