St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth has received a £1,500 boost from Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter, providing crucial support for the hospice’s compassionate end-of-life care services for people facing terminal illness.
This contribution from the Barratt David Wilson Community Fund will help St Luke’s continue delivering expert support for patients and their families across Plymouth and South West Devon, bringing essential care directly to the doorsteps of those who need it most.
St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth, founded in 1982, cares for patients in their own homes and at its specialist unit in Turnchapel. The charity relies heavily on donations, with 76% of its £13 million annual budget raised through contributions from the community and local organisations.
Caring for over 300 patients at any one time, its dedicated team of doctors, nurses, social workers and occupational therapists deliver specialist support and bereavement care to both patients and their loved ones, providing comfort and dignity at a crucial stage of life.
Lorraine Clark, Trust and Legacy Advisor at St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth, said: “This generous gift from Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter will help us to continue delivering expert, compassionate care wherever it’s needed – whether that’s at home or in our specialist unit. As we strive to meet the needs of our community, especially in rural and underserved areas, support like this is invaluable. Last year alone, our team made over 13,500 home visits, covering thousands of miles to reach individuals in need. We are here to make the end the best it can be, for both patients and families.”
Nicki Reid, Sales Director at Barratt David Wilson Homes, said: “St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth provides exceptional care, ensuring patients and their families receive the support they need at one of the most challenging times of life. We’re honoured to contribute to a charity that makes such a profound difference in our community, and we hope this donation will help St Luke’s continue their work, particularly as they respond to increased demand for their home-based care services.”
