A man has been arrested following a fatal collision in Torquay last week.
Emergency services were called to Torbay Road at 11.15pm on Friday 11th January to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle.
The 30-year-old female predestrian was taken to Torbay hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased after sustaining life-threatening injuries.
Her next of kin have been informed but formal identification is yet to take place.
The van fled the scene and was located a short time later in Paignton by officers.
A 52-year-old man from Paignton was arrested in relation to the incident and taken into police custody. He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Enquiries are ongoing at this time.
Investigating officers are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to contact police on 101 quoting log number 983 of 11/1/19.
