Local water sports centre ready for busy summer season

Local water sports centre ready for busy summer season

After a busy winter of works Broadsands Beach Watersports Centre is proud to open its new changing rooms and watersports equipment store. The changing rooms are much larger than previously and provide amply sized and warm changing facilities.

Post-Covid times have seen a huge surge in the number of people using the wonderful beach and water here at Broadsands Beach and the introduction of these new changing rooms and shower facilities will certainly be of benefit to watersports participants – particularly in spring, autumn and winter – when a nice warm shower and changing rooms are ideal after some time on the water.

The changing rooms are situated in the old disused toilet block and it’s great to see some life being breathed into a previously derelict space. The renovations have been undertaken completely inhouse by the staff at the water-sports centre and many of the materials are re-cycled – pallet slat cladding and scaffold board benches feature throughout.

The space provides male and female changing rooms, separate shower room and WC – lockers are also available.

The facilities feature the artwork of talented local artist Carole Phillips and all the artwork is based around the beach and coves that surround Broadsands Beach.

The opening coincides with the launch of our 2023 Rip Curl wetsuit and Dryrobe ranges – which will dovetail perfectly with the hoped extension to the season at the water-sports centre.

The centre is located in a perfect location to paddle either towards Paignton or towards Brixham and stunning section of coastline that lies between here and Brixham.

“It’s great to open these new changing facilities and we are extremely proud of them and they will hopefully be appreciated by our customers who will benefit from a great space to use both before and after a spell on the water – I really believe our investment will see a lengthening of the season and see more people visit the centre outside of the traditional “summer” season” – Rob Wood (Centre Principal and Senior Instructor)
